Everything you need to know about using TuneView, from file formats to pricing to what happens when a recommendation goes sideways.

How it works

What is TuneView?

TuneView is an evidence-based tune review tool. You upload a datalog from HP Tuners VCM Scanner, and the in-house parser assesses your tune health across multiple systems -- knock/spark, airflow, fuel pressure, torque, thermal, and startup. It returns a grade, P1-P4 revision priorities, and specific HP Tuners table and cell guidance where the evidence supports it.

What are P1-P4 revision priorities?

Every finding is ranked by priority: P1 is critical (safety or reliability), P2 is high (clear improvement supported by evidence), P3 is moderate (supported by evidence but lower impact), and P4 is informational (worth monitoring but not urgent). Your report presents them in priority order so you know what to address first.

What does the revision cycle look like?

Upload a baseline log and get your assessment. Apply the P1-P2 revisions in HP Tuners, drive, re-log, and upload the follow-up. The parser compares the two and issues effectiveness verdicts: improved, no change, or worse. That verification loop is the core product.

Does TuneView modify my ECU or tune file?

No. TuneView is read-only. It reads your datalog and tells you what to change and where, but it never touches your ECU, calibration file, or any hardware. You make all edits yourself in HP Tuners VCM Editor.

What role does AI play?

The in-house parser is the decision layer -- it sets grades, detects issues, and selects revision priorities. AI is used only to explain findings in plain language. AI cannot override grades, thresholds, or revision selections.

File formats and logging

What file format does TuneView accept?

CSV exports from HP Tuners VCM Scanner. When you finish logging in Scanner, go to File > Export Data > CSV. That file is what you upload.

What log channels do I need?

At minimum: Engine RPM, Throttle Position, and Knock Retard. For full coverage, also add MAP, MAF, Fuel Rail Pressure (commanded + actual), Spark Advance, and Accelerator Pedal Position. See the full list at /log-channels.

How big can my log file be?

Up to 50 MB. Most HP Tuners CSV exports are well under this limit.

What makes a good log?

A clean wide-open throttle (WOT) pull with the required channels logging. The parser looks for a meaningful load event: RPM gain of at least 500, throttle above 40% for at least 10 samples. Idle-only or very short logs may not contain enough data for a full assessment.

What if my log is missing channels?

The parser works with what you provide. Missing channels reduce coverage -- for example, no MAP channel means no boost analysis. The report will note which systems could not be assessed and why.

Platform coverage

What engines does TuneView support?

Currently: GM Gen V LT and LS engine families (L83, L86, L87, LT1, LT4, LT5, and related variants). This covers 2014+ Silverado/Sierra trucks, Camaro, Corvette, CT5-V, and other GM Gen V platforms.

What about Ford and Mopar?

Ford Coyote and Mopar Gen 3 Hemi support is in active development. The knowledge base already contains research entries for these platforms. Coverage pages will go live as parser support reaches production quality.

Do you support LS-based (Gen III/IV) engines?

Gen IV LS engines (L76, L92, L96, L99, LS3, LSA, etc.) have partial KB coverage. Gen III is limited. Coverage depth varies by engine family -- check the Knowledge Base at /kb to see entry counts per family.

Pricing and billing

How much does TuneView cost?

Quick Tune is $39: one vehicle, one baseline analysis, one follow-up revision round, no expiry. A full tune is $99 and covers one motor for as many revision rounds as it takes, with no time limit. Three motors are $169. If you buy Quick Tune and later move up, whatever you have already paid comes off the price automatically -- a full tune costs you $60. There is no deadline. Is there a free trial or promo code?

There is no promo code and no free tier. The free first case was retired on 30 July 2026. The $39 Quick Tune is the lowest-cost way in, and its cost comes off a full tune automatically whenever you upgrade -- no code to enter, no deadline.

What are case credits?

Quick Tune ($39) is metered: one baseline analysis and one follow-up revision round on one vehicle. A full tune ($99 or $169 for three) is not metered at all -- it covers a motor outright with unlimited analyses and revision rounds, forever. Swapping the motor later does not cost you anything -- the tune is tied to the vehicle in your garage, not to a VIN or ECU serial.

Can I get a refund?

If an analysis cannot be completed due to a platform or parser limitation, contact [email protected]. We work with you on a resolution for cases where the tool could not deliver.

Safety and trust

What if a TuneView recommendation makes things worse?

That is why the verification loop exists. After you apply revisions and re-log, the parser grades the follow-up and issues a verdict: improved, no change, or worse. If a recommendation made things worse, the follow-up report will show it and the next revision plan adjusts. TuneView publishes these outcomes publicly on the Measured Results page -- including the failures.

Is my data safe?

Logs are retained for 30 days and then deleted. TuneView never stores or accesses your ECU calibration. All analysis runs server-side over an encrypted connection.

Can TuneView damage my engine?

TuneView is read-only -- it reads logs and recommends changes, but it never writes to your ECU or calibration file. You are always the one making edits in HP Tuners. TuneView provides the evidence and direction; the tuner makes the call.
